Honey Remedies

Honey has been used since ancient times to treat multiple health conditions.
Please note this advice is not meant to cure or diagnose any illnesses and that the research into the medicinal properties of honey is on-going.

Healthy mouth, healthy smile:

Studies have shown that manuka honey fights the formation of plaque by attacking oral bacteria, so although we often hear that sweets are bad for us, unlike refined sugar, honey has a beneficial special effect that is unlikely to contribute to cavities.

Sore throat

The inflammation that causes the discomfort of a sore throat can be reduced with the unique properties of manuka honey. Often a sore throat is as a result of a cold, and the effect of honey not only fights the bacteria that causes the throat infection, but it also acts as a cough suppressant, aiding the overall recovery.

Healing wounds:

International studies have found that honey wound dressings reduced swelling and enhanced the regeneration of tissue making it an ideal wound compress.

Improve digestive discomfort

Researchers have found that regular consumption of manuka honey may help decrease symptoms of multiple gut symptoms including constipation, diarrhoea and abdominal pain. Although this research is on-going it is encouraging to know that a small amount of honey can provide comfort to such an essential part of our biology.
